Ballerina Pillow

Happy Sunday everyone, I hope you're enjoying your day?
Yesterday we took a trip to the waterpark to cool off.
So much fun!

When I got home, I called my grandson, James..
First thing he says to me is:
"I wanna come to your Florida, Punkin!"

(He lives in Michigan, is 3 yrs old and calls me Punkin..)

Ahh.. I love that little guy!

Today, I thought I'd do some work in the garage..

I was wrong. Too hot!!

So, I stayed inside, did some cleaning and made this
sweet ballerina pillow..

I used a ballerina picture from

Added some glitter and a
pretty pink rhinestone..

Just adorable!

Awesome Thrifting Goodness!

My day yesterday started out with a big *sigh* ~ as I detest running errands..

I did end the day feeling quite accomplished, though!

I started the day out about 10am, and finally finished my running around at around 3:30pm.
No sence in going home, Mr. Ruffles doesn't get home until 5:30pm, so, I figured I had time to kill at a couple of thrift stores.  (I even squeezed in some time at a local antique mall)  Man o man, I am glad I did! Wait.. just wait till you see what I found and took home with me!!

No furniture ~ althought I really wanted to buy a couple of peices ~ I showed Mr. Ruffles my finds last night and he says, "I thought you weren't buying anymore until you had some of the other done?"  I corrected him and said, "No.. I said I wouldn't buy anymore FURNITURE until I had some of the other done.." hehehe!!!

Ok, without further ado, my thrifting finds yesterday:

Gorgeous shabby rose platter with gold trim
Wire basket
AWESOME turquoise enamel ware

Letter holder & gold mirror frames (yep, gonna paint these!)
White wire basket
Check out the cool pink phone!
LOVE LOVE LOVE!!
It's a note card and pen holder. The middle says, "Dial Me"
So cute!!
3 little Homer Laughlin plates

Another close up pic of the phone
and I wrapped these blue colored vintage books in burlap

 Picture frame
Wine bottle corks
Huge bag of buttons
Vintage Pink thread
Apothecary jar
Galvanized flour scoop

Galvanized tall pail

Insert Happy Dance here!!!

More RUFFLES!!

And, I found this set of skeleton keys at the Antique Mall.

I finished the day off by texting Mr. Ruffles he needed to take me out to dinner.  We ate a pretty awesome restaurant that is set up on the beach of a small lake nearby, and ate outside. ahhhh... :)

LOVE LOVE LOVE Renningers!

Mr. Ruffles and I went to Renningers this morning for thier monthly Antiques Extravaganza they have. (It's held the 3rd weekend of every month.)

Got some REALLY great finds this trip.. sooo excited to share with you!

A really beat up trunk, it's the size of a large suitcase, but much sturdier like the big black trunks you see around. I'm pretty tempted to paint this trunk white, but, I really love the red stripes down the middle.

There's also a bookshelf  in the back of the truck I found. Pretty old and beat up, but, in great shape! (Isn't that they way we love 'em though?!) Can't wait to fix 'er up!

Neato wire basket..

The tab says: Kasper Wireworks - Shiner, Texas.
I have no idea how old this wire basket is, if it even is old, but, I love it just the same!
The dealer only had one.. darnit!!

From the website of Kasper Wireworks it says they've been open since 1898.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to find a wire basket from the year they opened? Ahh...

This absolutley GORGEOUS quilt!!

I was pretty excited and even did a little "yippee dance" when I found it!! LOL

Mr. Ruffles said, "Yep, it's confirmed now.. she's lost it!"

And, I found me some RUFFLES!! WOO HOO!!

I just love ruffles, as if you didn't know.. LOL
And  this underslip pettycoat was just full of em!

YAY Renningers! You never disappoint!!

Next month can't come soon enough!

Ruffled Lamp

No, I'm not crazy.. I usually don't get so much done...
But, Mr. Ruffles is away on business until Sunday morning,
so I thought I'd get some of the smaller "ta-do's" finished.

I bought this lamp awhile back with the intention of
painting it white, of course.
(Jeez, aren't I the repetitive one! LOL)

I did take a before picture.. yay!!

Ok, ok.. not TOTALLY a before picture.. hehehe!
But, you get the idea.

I gave the lamp post a coat of white paint with my paint brush...
yeah... 2nd coat with my paint brush.. no way!
I got out the spray paint to finish this one off. Whew!

For the lamp shade I sewed 5 strips of white fabric and ruffled em up.
Then, hot glued them around the shade.

And, just kept going...

Until it was done!

Ruffle Bag

Yippee!!! Lookie what I made today!

More ruffles!!

I'm pretty excited it turned out the way it did, since it's my first attempt at sewing a ruffle bag.
(And, since it took me almost 4 hours to figure it out and put it together.. LOL)

I used white duck cloth for the bag itself, and then I used white cotton for some of the ruffles and inside out cottage rose patterned material for the other ruffles.

I also made a liner out of the rose fabric, and even added a pocket inside!

I'm just thrilled how it turned out.. soooo cute!!

Love .. Love.. Love...

Corner Cabinet

I'm sooo excited!! I finished the corner cabinet I just blogged about a day or so ago... yippee!!  I can't wait for Mr. Ruffle to get his butt home and put it in the dining room for me.. hehe...

Here is the before:

Nice piece of furniture.. just VERY dated.. small ew, cuz I still like it.. just not brown.. LOL

And... AFTER:

Gorgeous white and a new glass knob...

Quite a change, eh?!

Just adding this to my LOVE, LOVE, LOVE collection.. teehee!

Edit (04/07/11)

Well, we have the corner cabinet in the dining room now. Can you believe it's the ONLY corner in the dining room? And.. if the corner was a 1/2 an inch bigger it wouldn't of fit!! Oh my gosh, yay!! It fits!!
(Note the corner of the counter into the kitchen.. such a tight squeeze.)

I don't have it completley decorated, mostly because I need to go antiquing again so I CAN fill up the 3 shelves inside. When is an excuse to shopping EVER a problem? hehe..  I did, however, go to The Home Store yesterday and found these really cute wire baskets.

The baskets were already lined. On one, I took out the liner to show the wire off - very pretty!  And the other one, I hot glued some lace around the edges and added a few cream colored buttons. Just adorable!

This afternoon I sewed up 2 little pillows.
The heart on in the basket above, and this one to go into the bigger basket:

I used leftover grain sack fabric and some really pretty rose fabric I found at a quilt shop. I turned the fabric inside out to get the faded look. I just love how it turned out.

I also found this tall metal painted bucket at The Home Store yesterday.  They are really getting in some awesome finds!! I could just spend hours in that store... wait.. I do!! haha!  I added the real pine branches I found on clearance from Jo-Ann Fabrics ($2.97 a bunch). I know it's not very spring looking, but, I love the frosted look of them with the white bucket.  Its sitting on the floor next to my new corner cabinet.

Hope ya'll like :-)
