Ballerina Pillow

Happy Sunday everyone, I hope you're enjoying your day?
Yesterday we took a trip to the waterpark to cool off.
So much fun!

When I got home, I called my grandson, James..
First thing he says to me is:
"I wanna come to your Florida, Punkin!"

(He lives in Michigan, is 3 yrs old and calls me Punkin..)

Ahh.. I love that little guy!

Today, I thought I'd do some work in the garage..

I was wrong. Too hot!!

So, I stayed inside, did some cleaning and made this
sweet ballerina pillow..

I used a ballerina picture from

Added some glitter and a
pretty pink rhinestone..

Just adorable!

ReDo's..

Happy Fathers Day
to all you awesome Daddies out there!

I hope ya'll enjoyed the day, you deserve it!

Mr. Ruffles is out of town working,
so, I decided to do a little
and

Not too long ago, all the blog rage
was the union jack stuff..

Cute? Yep..

but, since 4th of July was coming up soon
I thought I'd give the union jack a twist
and make a shabby chic pillow of
the US flag:

I know, it doesn't look like the USA flag,
but, if you use your imagination..

I cut strips of pink, blue and white fabric.
Washed them so they would fray,

Layered them all up and
stiched each one down
so they wouldn't fray more..

Today was a back & forth
sort of day.  I'd sew a little bit,
then out to the garage to
paint a little bit.

First, I painted a frame pink.
(Sorry, forgot the before!)

Close up of the detail..

Frame with the Shabby Chic US Flag Pillow

Then, back to the sewing room I go!!

I printed this awesome french graphic
sewed that onto some drop cloth.

Then, sewed the ruffle around it.

I tied some black ribbons on
my vanity chair and added the pillow

Yikes! Looks like I'll have to come up
with some sort of a cushion for
the seat too!!

Then, back to the garage
for some more painting!!

Remember the mirror I bought
yesterday at a yard sale?

Here's the before:

And, here's the after!

Close up:

I need Mr. Ruffles to help me
with hanging my mirror and frame up..

Seems I can get quite a bit done
when he's away.. except for the
hanging stuff!! LOL

What have you been up to today?

Pillow and Thrifting Finds...

Waiting for the paint to dry.. no, really.. I am!  LOL

Thought I'd make a cute little pillow and show you some thrifty finds.

For the pillow, I used bleached dropcloth, blue ticking and a shabby chic rose print heart.

Layered... Simple.. Sweet...

Yep, that's my messy craft/sewing desk you see too.. lucky ducks you!

~~

I found a really curvy coffee table when I was out thrifting.

A really neat childrens rocking chair:

Look at the rocker part.. sheesh.. she's got skiis I tell ya.. skiis!!!

I'm having a slight arguement with "Auntie Flo" today and I don't feel like doing much of anything today, so the stuff stays in the truck for Mr. Ruffles to get out!!  LOL

~~

I ordered the cutest EVER pink rainboots from Target the other day.

Online, they were clearanced to only $7!

Thought I'd tease ya'll a lill bit too.

This is 1 of the drawers to that yummy green dresser I showed you the other day shown HERE.

That's all.. just a peek.. I told ya'll.. I'm waiting for the paint to dry!! ;-)

I picked this 9 drawer beauty up last week from Craigslist.

I'm pretty sure she's going in our bedroom:

Which is a disaster right now, but, wait till you see the after!!!

Even with the mess in there.. bedside tables, painters tape, a step ladder...

The unmaid bed still looks pretty inviting to me right now!!

Yep... I think Aunt Flo is winning the arguement right now... ugh!!

~ Hope ya'll have an AWESOME Memorial Day weekend ~

The Twins and The Sister

TGIF friends!! Finally, right? I am taking a small break from laundry and packing, we're leaving for West Palm Beach Antique Festival as soon as Mr. Ruffles gets home from work. Yippee!! I'm pretty excited to go, can't wait till tomorrow morning!! I have my camara packed and ready to go, too.. I'll be sure to take plenty of pictures to share with ya'll.

I have been working on my dining room table/chair set all week, but, I've also been busy on "The Twins" and The Sister. Who are the twins and the sister? Here they are.. in all their thrift store glory:

The Twins:

Mmmmmm... purple corduroy... yummy!!!

And, "The Sister"

Obviously, all 3 were in dire need of a makeover!!

First, "The Twins":

And, now.. "The Sister":

I painted and shabbied The Sister in a mixture of white and a minty green sort of color..

That's one of my ironstone pictures and bowls sitting on the Sister.

Lovin' the spindles
(After they've been painted.. definately NOT during!! haha)

Ahhh... MUCH better!!

I've also been busy making a few more pillows for our couch and loveseat.
I used drop cloth that I washed and dryed 2x for softness and printed out some graphics from The Graphics Fairy again, and tied black ribbons on the side.

And, made these 2 little pillows with leftover "oopsie" fabric pieces I had.
I stenciled and painted the fleur on both of them, too.

Gotta love ruffles!!

And, last, but, not least.. I just couldn't wait to go to the Antique Festival tomorrow.. I jumped in the truck and went thrifting for a bit. Man o man, did I score!! Yay!!

First up.. remember the old victorian garden chair I picked up at Renningers for $10?
I did some research on it and found another one for sale online for almost $300. Today, I stopped at the antique mall in Mt. Dora and found this one, just like the other one, but in MUCH better shape and painted white.

This one is going inside the house for me!

Stopped at a Thrift store on the way home and picked up this wire basket along with 6 linen napkins and 6 linen placemats.. all matching, embroidered and gorgeous for only $4!!

Last, but, not least.. ya still with me?? hehe, I know.. it's a long one, but, sooo worth it in the end, I promise!!
I went to my 2nd favorite thrift store and picked up this beauty for guess how much?

It was marked $70... but, marked down 50%!!!

The mirror came with it!

I've had my eye on this dresser/mirror set for a couple of weeks, so I was beyond thrilled that no one had picked it up yet.. AND it was marked down to 50%!  The shop owner asked, "You gonna shabby it up?" LOL But, of course!! As I was leaving he says, "See ya next week!" Ahh.. just love it meeting new people, they remember who you are the next time, and look forward to seeing you again.

Hope to be able to score just as well tomorrow!

Have a fabulous weekend ya'll, and Happy Mothers Day!!

Shabby Caddy

Good afternoon everyone, hope you're enjoying the day?

I took a break from my dining room table and chairs, and finished a little caddy I found while thrifting the other day.
Ain't she ugly.. eh hem.. pretty?!

Well, now look at her!

I cut a circle of toile from a leftover scrap I had and glued it in...
Soooo much better than whatever that was before!

And, of course, shabbied her up a bit...

What do ya think?

I also wanted to share a couple of pictures I took of a pillow I made yesterday using a graphic from The Graphics Fairy. I spray glued a peice of drop cloth to another peice of cardstock, and ran the image through my printer.  I think it turned out great!

Notice the large roses on the table?

I found those at Michaels. Such a pretty shade of blushed pink. Michaels had the roses and some hydrangeas in the same color, I bought 3 roses and 3 hydrangea stems. Soo gorgeous!!
