Catching Up With Ya'll.. Booth Pics & Antique Bed Makeover!

Yep, it's been a minute and a day
since I last added a blog post.

My apologies!

Since before Christmas I've been SOOOO busy!

My brother visited from Germany
for a few days before Christmas.
I had such a good visit with him,
we did some catching up,
shopping and an entire day
at Universal Studios riding roller coasters!

After he left, Mr. R and I visited Puerto Rico
again for the holidays.

The picture is the view from our hotel room.
We stayed for 6 days this time,
and wish we could've stayed longer!

I finally got to see the rain forest, too.
A couple of years ago, we took my son,
Anthony with us.  We booked a tour
to visit the rain forest, but, it ended up
being cancelled due to rain..

Ya, I thought that was crazy too.. you can't
visit the rain forest .. when it rains! LOL

After we got home I had a TON to do
straightening and "fluffing" my booth
at Traditions Antique Mall.

Thankyou to everyone who visited and
bought from my booth! I appreciate it so much.

Now my booth is all ready for Valentines Day!

I just brought this antique vanity
into my booth a couple of days ago.

She's a beauty for sure!

I picked this gorgeous antique bed
up right before we left for vacation.

Sooo pretty!!
But, ya know I just have to make her
Prettier!

Here's the before:

And.. here's the after!!

Yep.. I'm pretty much squealing
with delight on how she turned out!

I painted a light pink on the flowers,
and a silver on the leafing..
then added more white on top
and shabbied all over..

Gorgeous details all over this beauty!

I almost forgot to show ya..

My favorite Christmas prezzie
I received was from my mom.

Well, actually, my mom and my brother!

My brother lives in Germany,
and last year he sent me some
antique sacks for Christmas.

I used 4 of them to cover my dining room chairs,
and with this one below.. my mom sewed me
a flea market bag!

It's huge and I just LOVE it!!

Can't wait for Renningers Extravaganza
next week to fill it with all sorts of goodies!!

Catching up..

Happy Holidays my Friends!
I'm here, I haven't vanished.. well.. not completely..
It's been a rough couple of weeks
here in the RnR house.

The weekend of Renningers I came down
with a nasty case of a chest cold mixed with the flu.
Ugh.. what a weekend to get sick!  I did make it on
Friday for most of the day and thought I was better
when I woke up on Saturday ~ so, I went again for
a couple of hours ~ only to end up getting dizzy and hot.
So.. back to bed for me!  It lasted just over 4 days.. yuck!!

I did pick up a couple awesome peices of ironstone
(my personal favorite)

LOVE this pitcher with the "ice lip"

And, I just ADORE this ironstone set of
Tea/Coffee pot, 2 cups, 2 saucers,
creamer and sugar bowl with lid.
No chips, no cracks..
Just gorgeous!!

I also picked up this frame for only $20!
LOVE

I really wish I would've felt better,
and could've spent more time at
Renningers.. but, at least there
are 2 more big extravaganzas coming up.
There's one in January & another in February.

~

So, on to my next adventure..

Mr. Ruffles suprized me with an
overnight trip to St. Augustine
for Thanksgiving!

Ahhh.. I just love that town!
Mr. Ruffles ain't too shabby either.. LOL

We stayed at the Wescott House
Bed ~n~ Breakfast:

In the Anastasia Room upstairs..

The Innkeeper says it was the Master Bedroom where
Dr. John Westcott,
a well known physician for the militia, stayed.

Gorgeous Chandy in the stairwell.

Inside our room.

Looking downstairs to the front door.

LOVE this vanity..
This was the first picture I took of it.

And, the second..
Look how many orbs came to visit!!

3rd picture, taken right after the 2nd..
They're all gone.. crazy!!

This was my view at the Colombia Restaurant.
We had a yummy Thanksgiving dinner here
with all the fixins..

Afterwards.. Mr. Ruffles suprized me again ~
A carriage ride around the entire town
in the only PINK  carriage!!

Awww.. I just love him!
If ever there was a man that
deserved the title "Keeper"
it's Mr. Ruffles.. FOR SURE!!

I had a wonderful time in
St. Augustine, and can't wait to go back.

~

Now, for the not so nice news.
As we were leaving St. Aug. I got a
phone call from my dad letting me know
my sweet grandmother of 96 years had passed.

I love her sooo much, and it's been a really
difficult week for me.  I am trully blessed
to of been so lucky to have a grandmother
like her for the past 40 years.

I flew up to Michigan for her funeral
last week, only to return and learn
that Mr. Ruffles father has suffered his
3rd stroke.  The blows just keep coming
this season.  We keep our faith, and I
rejoice in the fact that I know my grandmother
is with my grandpa in Heaven with the Lord.

She is happy.

Saturday Stone -n- Sack

Happy Saturday Friends!

I woke up this morning,
totally excited for
Renningers Flea Market..

Until I arrived.

Yeah, there were some vendors,
but, not as many as usual.

I suppose it's "off season"
for flea marketing in Florida?

Is that even right? Really?

Who takes time out from shopping
at a flea market?

Grrrr...

I guess it's different when
you're on the selling side!

Ah well, it was really nice to see
some of the die hard vendors.

A couple of them, I've really gotten
to know over the last couple of months.

Which is always really nice to
take a few moments to visit
and chit chat!!

I did manage to find
an iron stone pitcher..

and 4 little square
ironstone dishes.
(there are 2 shown &
2 are on the other side of my hutch.)

My hutch:

And, a Bemis Seamless Sack

The Bemis sack was made by
the Bemis Bag Company,
founded in 1858 by Judson Moss Bemis..

After leaving Renningers,
I stopped at a yard sale
and picked up these 2 beauties!!

Yes, the gold on the cherub
WILL be painted over.. LOL

I'm not sure if I'll
paint the mirror yet..

What is your opinion?

Paint over.. or no?

Overall, I really did enjoy
my Saturday.  Always a good
time running into people
who remember you..

and take home a few goodies!!

What did you do today?

My Mothers Day Gift.. Early

Mr. Ruffles suprized me yesterday with an early Mothers Day gift.. we're going to The West Palm Beach Antiques Festival!!

We are leaving Friday after he gets out of work and staying near West Palm Beach (not in, we're not MADE of money!! haha) and starting the day early on Saturday for a full day of Antiquing!! Yippee!!

From Festival of Antiques website:

"Some of the largest shows of this type in the USA, The West Palm Beach Antiques Festivals have been running in West Palm Beach, Florida for 20 years now.
The purpose of the West Palm Beach Antiques Festivals are to create a place where decorators, designers, collectors, hobbyists and the curious can find a vast array of dealers in one location. The West Palm Beach Festivals have from 400 - 1200 dealers. The merchandise available at the festivals can range from a $5.00 baseball card to a $10,000 Tiffany lamp."

I'm a little irritated to hold off on any thrift store shopping today and tomorrow..saving my pennies for Saturday! But, it's ok, I'm crossing my fingers and toes for some great finds on Saturday!!

Is anyone else going?

DML Flea Market Trip

Mornin' ya'll! I thought I'd share a couple of photos of my "finds" to my trip to DML Flea Market.  My day started out with driving out to a couple of community yard sales, when I arrived there were only 2 garage/yard sales going on! And, nothing to really speak of to nab.  So I drove out to my favorite "flea market".  I put it in quotes because it's really not a normal flea market.  It's more of a huge warehouse garage sale type place.  LOTS of big and small goodies, including glass, lamps, craft supplies, wood, some furniture, knick knacks.. what-have-ya type store/warehouse. I LOVE it there.  I can usually get lost for at least 2 hours each time I visit..

Anyway, here's what I found on this trip:

Really HEAVY weaved basket, marked "Made in Italy", planter with the holes (I have a couple of plates and a cake stand with these holes.. and thread colored or white ribbon through them. I will do the same for the planter shown here.) 2 huge shells for my beach themed lanai, a holly hobby wall plate, 2 glass candle holders, an embroidered vintage towel and hanky, some cherub decorations (50 cents!) a sweet little white birdie and a really cute wire plant holder that looks like a tea cart to me.

I will be spray painting this little "cart" white, of course!

"Start Each Day in a Happy Way"

Total cost for this trip and my new little trinkets: $22!
