Pretties

Mr. Ruffles is away working this weekend,
so I took the opportunity to do some shopping.

I stopped at my favorite fabric store
and found this wonderful
Cabbage and Roses fabric..

It's SOOO pretty!!

Can't wait to get started on a project with this:

I bought this cutey patuty bear from Pop Vintage
a local store in Clermont, FL, a few months ago..

When I picked the bear up
to purchase, it had a cute lill tutu on it.
Chris, the owner, said it didn't go
with the bear.. but, I bought the bear
anyway, thinking I'd sew one up, no problem.

Well, I never got around to it..
but, guess what I found in a thrift store
the other day!!

A white tutu!

After I bought the bear and brought
it home, I took a peek at the tag
to see what it's name was.

Much to my suprize.. the bear
isn't a she.. he's a "Bradley"!!

Isn't Bradley so cute with a
new tutu and a rhinestone crown?!

At the same store I found these stunning
size 8 little girl dresses..

So pretty

The lady I bought them from asked if someone
was getting married, I said, "Nope, but, these will
look great as a backdrop in my booth"!

I'll be bringing them up to RnR
next week to hang them up.
Promise to take pictures!

(Can't wait to show ya'll  what I've been working on..
I hope to have them up in my booth by Wednesday..
It's taken awhile to complete this project,
considering it's so flippen hot outside I can't last
more than an hour at a time without sweating to death.. LOL )

My last stop of the day was at an
antique mall here in Mt. Dora, FL.

I had a grea time looking for treasures
but, never really found anything
in my price range that sparked my interest..

until.. I was ready to get my purse out of
the locker, I looked down and there was this
old record cabinet!

SCORE!!

I just love the antique mirror on the top.
Beveled and in tact!!

All in all quite a day of shopping..
Thanks Mr. R!!

Pickin' in Florida

Mr. Ruffles and I drove down to
the Vero Beach area this past weekend
to visit my Aunt who's visitng from
Michigan.. Before we met them for
dinner, you just know I had to do
some pickin'! LOL

We drove down to West Palm Beach,
and then back up to Vero Beach and
on the way home stopped at a couple
really nice antique malls in Sebastian.

We had planned on catching some rays
on the beach yesterday instead.. but, it
rained the entire day.. boo..

It was a great time regardless, and here
are some of my finds:

Vintage Recipe box

A pink flower frog!
I've never seen one pink!

And, see that silver piece
next to it? It's a crumb
catcher and brush. I LOVE it!!
Especially since our dining room
table has grooves in the top.
I actually vacume the top of our table
to get the food crumbs.. LOL
Not anymore!

Love, love, love ironstone!
I'm becoming quite the horder..

Silver Onieda Candle stick.. love it!

Check this baby out!

I haven't measured it yet,
but, I stand 5'9" and i can
barely touch the top!

Best find ever!!
(at least for me)

Detail on the frame,
imagine it white..
because you just know
it will be soon!!

Yard Sale Finds and Nesting Tables Redo

Happy March ya'll!

It's been quite the busy past
couple of weeks here at
the Ruffle Household!

Last week, my grandson James
and his other grandmas were
here for a visit.  We kept pretty
busy catching beetles & snails
in the morning.. and playing in
the afternoon in the wonderful
Florida sunshine!  We even managed
to get a trip to Sea World in, or,
as he calls it... "Shark Land"!

I now know more than I care to
about all sorts of sharks.. Lemon Sharks,
Tiger Sharks, Hammerhead Sharks..
Little James is quite the smarty pants
when it comes to sharks!
(He'll even tell you which ones
will bite you and which ones won't.. hehe)

Here's a cute pic of him eating
Florida oranges on our lanai..

Silly kid!!

Last weekend Mr. Ruffles
went golfing.. *yawn*..

So.. I went to a few yard sales.
Sooo, happy I did!

Look what I found:

Silver Coffee Pot
Buttons
Candlestick

Wonderful Scale
and more buttons!

Check this out!
My favorite find of the weekend.

A French bottle with
the labels still attached.
Did you see the top?
With the 4 holes..
how cool is that?!

Desk.. yes, I have the drawers.. LOL

Cute side table and
wood pedestal.

And, these nesting tables..

Today I got to work on them.

I cleaned them up, and
then painted 1 coat of white,
then, 1 dry brushed coat of grey..

Sanded them down to
give them that Shabby goodness..

and added a French graphic
to come up with these!

Cabbage & Roses Chair

Good morning Friends,
Can you believe there's only
11 more days until Christmas?

Seems the older I get
the faster time just flys by.. *sigh*

On the flip side, though, with most of
my family still in Michigan, we figured
there was really no reason to sit here and
stare at my walls on Christmas, so,
Mr. Ruffles and I are off to Puerto Rico!!

My parents are coming down in January,
and I'll be flying up to see my grandson James,
and my daughter in January, as well..

I can't wait to catch some sun and warmer weather...

~ Feliz Navidad!! ~

I finished up this chair
I found at a local thrift store.

~ Before ~

So excited to show you
what a little white paint
and some gorgeous
Cabbage & Roses
fabric can do!!

~ After ~

I painted it white (of course!)
and shabbied it all up..

Then, overstuffed the seat and
covered it with this gorgeous
Cabbage & Roses fabric.

I only wish I had 5 more
chairs just like it!!

But, I know now what I'll
be recovering my
dining room set with!

Fireplace Mantal

Happy Weekend ya'll! Finally!

I say finally because finally Mr. Ruffles
has some extra time to get my finished
projects up in the house..

I'm so excited to show you!!

First is a fireplace mantal I found off
of Craigslist, for only.... $50!
I drove about 45 miles to go get it, once
I got there we tried to fit it inside the back
of my SUV.. but, it wouldn't fit.

Not to worry, I have rope and bungy cords!
I was bound and determined to get this sucker home.

We ended up tying it to the top of my truck:

I had to drive all the way home
on one of the busiest streets in the area
going only about 30 - 35 mph.
(yep, I recieved several honkers
and a coupe middle fingers too!
Didn't care... I was getting it home!)

Here it is, off of the top of my truck
and in the garage ready for me to start:

All sanded down:

And, now.. finally finished and in my home:

LOVE!!

I also wanted to share with you
a couple of pictures of the chandy
I finished.

It's finally hung up in the dining room:

I hope you're all enjoying your weekend!

For me, it's back to the garage now.
We're cleaning it.. oh fun! NOT!

Chippy Chandy

What a great start to a beautiful weekend!
Not a cloud in the sky, and a cool autumn breeze..
perfect for painting!

I took a break from my fireplace mantel today.
Yesterday, I put the 3rd and final coat of paint on
and started to shabby it up.. she's coming along
really nice, and I can't wait for it to be done
to show ya'll!  But, today, my arms were just
plain killing me from yesterdays project.

So, today, I thought I'd tackle something smaller.

I bought this a few days ago:

What a great chandy it is, prisms and all!
(Yes, I had the shop owner hook it up
and plug it in so I knew it worked! LOL)

I took off all the prisms, cleaned it up
and used 3 cans of flat white spray paint.

While I was waiting for it to dry,
I washed and dried all the prisms.

After the paint had dried
I took sandpaper and shabbied..
and shabbied some more..

Brushed off all the dust,
put back all the prisms,
and got this!

Originally I had bought this with
the intent to bring it to my booth
and sell.. but, I just don't think
I can part with it!!

I have to wait until Mr. Ruffles
comes home from a business trip
before it can get hung up..

So, for now, it's hanging on
the back of one of the kitchen chairs... LOL

I promise to take another photo
when it's hung up in our house properly..

From that..     to this!

Birthday Trip to West Palm Beach

Good morning everyone!!

Sorry I haven't been around much as of late..

But, I have a good excuse!

It was my birthday yesterday, and Mr. Ruffles and I
took a trip to West Palm Beach again this past weekend.

We had a wonderful time, and he was such a trooper
antiquing and thrift store shopping with me, yippee!!

Without further ado.. here are my pictures I wanted
to share with you all:

View from our hotel room.

Beautiful sunrises in the morning... ahhh...

We were driving around looking for
antique malls and thrift stores,
and out of the corner of my eye
I saw THIS:

I just HAD to park the car to
see what it was all about..
and, oh my gosh.. lemee tell ya..

My heart skip a few beats!!

The next pictures are what was
inside the house...

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!

Upstairs was a kitchen

with a turquoise fridge!!

Lots of painted furniture..

Shabby Chic'd chairs..

All Rachel Ashwell (Shabby Chic)
duvet covers, sheets, baby blankets, etc..

The price for a King Duvet?

$350! Yikes!!

Looking down the stairs

Sooo cute!!

I told Mr. Ruffles I wasn't leaving
and I was moving in.. LOL

We eventually did leave..
(Insert sad face here.. hehe)

But, we ended up at Hillsboro Antique Mall:

I was only able to take a picture
of the entrance, since they didn't
allow camaras inside.. Sorry!

I was, and still am, on the hunt
for an antique dresser for our bedroom..

Sadly, no luck the entire trip.. sigh..

~

That evening we enjoyed an
awesome dinner at a local Irish Pub.
Yummy Scotch Eggs, steak & tatos
and, of course a few beers..

This is my cute bartender! LOL

Here are some pictures of a
few of my finds on our trip:

Isn't this the most darling piggy bank?!

Ruffles!!

A HUGE cake stand.. this baby is heavy!

Hand painted rosey plate:

2 Tea Cups and saucers:

An extremely HEAVY antique mirror..
I can't wait to get my hands on a
paintbrush for this one!!

Another mirror and a couple of planters..

White locker baskets..

And, yesterday, for my birthday,
Mr. Ruffles even made me cake!!

He said the cake spells out:

"Happy Birthday, Tynk"

Um.. yeah.. I don't see it either! LMAO!!!
