From Blah to Ahhh!

I bought this Chandelier off of Craiglist last week.
The lady who was selling it said she had no way to
get it down.. so sweet Mr. Ruffles was coerced into
coming with me to take it down.
He got to take a week off of cooking!! haha!!

We got there, and he climbed up the ladder to take
the chandy down, only to find out who ever put it
up last time had bent the plate and all the screws
up into the ceiling.  It took him almost all of
45 minutes to get it down..
Of course, he was rolling his eyes at me the entire time
AND told me I was BUYING his dinner.. not cooking it! LOL

Here's a picture of the chandy after we finally got her home:

A couple of days later
I took all the crystals off
and gave her a good bath.

Then, took her outside to spray paint
all that "gold" into white..

Cleaned all the prisms..

And, now look at her!!

I was going to keep it after seeing
how much she sparkles and shines now..
but, poor Mr. R didn't wanna change out
the one I have hanging in the kitchen.

I figured I'd give him a break for once.. hehe.
I did tell him, though, if it doesn't sell in my booth
by winters end, it's coming home with me!

He actually agreed!!
So, if you're interested in making Mr. R's
work load a bit lighter by buying this
gorgeous chandy... it is hanging up in my booth
at Traditions Antique Mall for a very great price!

Just look at those pretty crystals shine!!

The last picture I snapped with my phone.
So, sorry about the cruddy shot..
but, thought'd you'd like to see her
hanging up in my booth.

Old Piano Front ~ Into a Coat Rack

Sometimes, I buy things just because I think
they look sooo cool.. but, really have NO idea
what I'm going to do with it.

Enter old piano front:

Awhile ago I had added coat hooks
to the bottom of an old window.

It was quite sometime ago,
and had totally forgotten about it
until I was looking at some old pictures.

After seeing my old pic,
I knew exactly what this front
of an old piano would be!

I turned it into a front entryway
coat rack, purse rack.. what haveya rack!

Painted it white.. of course!

And, shabbied it all up..

Added 5 hooks to the bottom
for your coat or purse..

There are some pieces missing,
but, I think it's just gorgeous
and just adds to the old charm of it!

If you're in the neighborhood..
I'll be bringing it up to my booth
at Traditions Antique Mall
on Saturday..

She's for sale!!

Armoire ~ Before n After

Ola! LOL 2 posts in one day!! Yay!

I wanted to share with ya'll
this armoire I picked up off Craigslist
a couple of weeks ago.

I got started on it right away, got 2 coats
of paint on it, only needed to get 1 more on
then shabby it up.. and guess what?

I got sick. Ugh.. and man o man did I ever get sick!
From the bathroom back to my bed, for an entire week..

So, my pretty armoire had to sit in the garage
all by herself.. unfinished.. boo hoo..

Anyway.. feeling back to my old self again
the last couple of days, so, after redecorating
my booth yesterday.. today was dedicated to
finishing the armoire..

Here she is!!

Before:

And.. After!!

I painted and shabbied right over the hardware.
I love this look!

Oh my goodness.. did my heart ever skip a beat
when the original key fell out of the drawer
onto the floor! Yay!!

I tied the key to some ribbon and it hangs from
the hat compartment door.

The inside was quite dirty and gross..
So, I cleaned it up and painted it pink!

Yep.. sh'es a keeper!

              Before                    and                       After!

Booth Decorated for the Holidays!

I went up to my booth at Traditions Antique Mall,
in Wildwood, Florida yesterday to decorate for the
Holiday Season!

I know.. it's to early to decorate our homes for Christmas,
but, it's never too early to decorate my booth!
And, I had so much fun doing it too!

Everything is so glittery and "Christmasy" now.. ♥

I decorated and brought in 2 trees this year.
The one above has "snow" on it,
with golden ribbons and glittered french horns.

I made this "page tree" from an old dictionary...
topped it with a rhinestone vintage piece.

I also made the pine cone tree.. so cute!

This chandy is new!
Well, it's old.. but, new to my booth!
I love it.. it's so cute..

I also brought in this bookcase.
I painted the outside white and the inside pink.
I really needed something large like this to hold
all the small items for sale.
(Secretly hoping it doesn't sell for awhile.. LOL)

If you're in the Wildwood, FL area,
I hope you stop by and take a peek at my booth!!

Thanks!

Bench Before and After

Ever have one of those ideas in your head?

It's all calculated out... in your head..

What fabric you're going to use..

Exactly what it's going to look like when it's completed?

Down to the last piece of lace..

I had a vision, but, in the end,
it ended up much better
that what was.. in my head...

I had invisioned this bench:

with lots and lots of lace layers,
and lots and lost of ribbons and bows..

totally girly!

After I was done cutting and stapling
the drop cloth fabric to the bench
I realized I didn't have quite enough fabric
to cover the entire bench. Boo!!

Only the bottom section was bare.
So, I went in my craftroom to see
what lace I had that I could use
to cover this part up.

Nothing seemed to work
until I remembered
I had this burlap "ribbon"
I bought a week or so ago.

It fit perfectly!!

So, in my head,
it was going to turn out totally girly..

In the end..

It's MUCH better than what I had envisioned!!

YAY!

I added the numbered burlap around the bottom,
and up towards the arms..

And, added apholstry tacks all the way down the arms.

I just love it!!

And, SO happy it didn't turn out AS girly..

Antique Dresser Makeover

Yeppers, a 2nd post in 1 day!
I'm ona roll.. LOL

I was able to finish up this really cute dresser
I bought off of another dealer at the antique mall
where I sell some of my re-dos:
Traditions Antique Mall in Wildwood, FL.

If you ever get the chance to stop in, please do,
I know you will just LOVE it!

Back to the dresser..

Here is the before:

Really cute legs and great smaller size..

But... ya know I couldn't just leave her alone!

I made some rose applique's from
the handle of a silver platter I had
and added them to the front of the dresser.

She's SOOO much prettier now!

Make sure you click on the pictures
so you can see these appliques..

I think they turned out really good.
I'm excited to put them on other projects now!

Check out these gorgeous drawer pulls!
Soooo cool, right?

My Kitchen Table Re-Do

I bought this kitchen table and chairs off of Craigslist
a few years ago. I wanted a "farmhouse" looking table,
and, I knew I had found one with this:

I had already started re-doing the chairs,
as you can see.. but, the table, to be honest
kind of antimidated me a bit.

It had a really thick coating of laquer on the top,
not to mention, I just detest paint stripping.. LOL

My dad stripped the chairs down for me.. whew!
I recovered each seat in a different antique sack
from Germany.  My brother, who lives in Germany,
has been sending them to me for my birthdays and Christmas'!
(What an AWESOME brother I have!)

Anywho.. I finally got around to repainting my table..
Of course, only after Mr. Ruffles bought me a power sander.
That baby is AWESOME!!

I was able to totally strip down the paint and varnish
from the table in just less than an hour..

And, the after is here:

I just LOVE my "new table"!!

I still have to sand (shabby up) 2 more chairs,
but, for now, I am so happy I don't have to cover
that ugly table with a table cloth anymore!

My dining room..

One of the chairs covered with an
antique German sack.

From that..                               To this!!
