Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year!

I can't believe 2012 is here already..
It's been a crazy and exciting year
for me in 2011.

I started my blog this past year,
and opened my first booth at
Traditions Antique Mall this year.

I've been having, and continue having
a complete blast with Ruffles n Raspberries,
and couldn't of asked for better success in
my first year... There are bigger and better
things in store for myself in 2012,  and I'm
so happy each one of you is here to share
my excitement as each step in my new
journey unfolds.

Thankyou to each one of you for your
posts, friendship and encouragement
this past year.. without it, I'm not so sure
I would have accomplised so much!

Thankyou, from the bottom of my heart..

Mr. Ruffles and I spent Christmas
in San Juan, Puerto Rico this year.

We were there for 4 days, it was
one of the best and most memorable
vacations we've ever taken together.

I wanted to share some pictures
I took while we were there...

We stayed at the La Concha hotel
and here are a couple photos of
the view from our room..

Needless to say, it was breathtaking!

Below is a shot from inside our room.
You could see the ocean from
almost where-ever you stood
in the room.

This is a shot from inside the hotel.

Just gorgeous!!

Even the lobby was amazing..

Here I am next to the
Shabby Chic Christmas trees
that were everywhere in the hotel!!

(Yep.. burnt to a crisp.. LOL)

The old Convent

Front door of the convent,
I couldn't even imagine trying
to open that door every morning!

Just inside the convent.

Iron chandy inside the convent.

(with a visitor!)

Oh what me and a paintbrush
could do to this chair!! hehehe

Sightseeing in downtown Old San Juan

Christo Chapel - built in the mid 1700's

Inside the chapel.

To the right of the inside of the chapel
was a room that was iron barred off.

I stuck my camara inside and took a shot.

Everywhere you looked
it was decorated for the
Holidays.. sooo pretty!

I claimed this building my new home.

Ya know,
since it was pink n shabby n all..
I just knew it was mine
in a former life.. LOL

The Butterfly People.
Yes, each of those butterflies
are real and pinned to a
background. Awesome!!

Insert my inner soul singing here!!

Did you know?

On Christmas night,
only a few feet from our balcony,
they shot off fireworks!

What an amazing trip!
I loved each and every beautiful day
we were there.

Mr. Ruffles sure outdid himself
with this one!

~ I just know this is going
to be one of the best New Years to come..

I just have a feeling!

I hope you all have a very Happy New Year too!!

Cabbage & Roses Chair

Good morning Friends,
Can you believe there's only
11 more days until Christmas?

Seems the older I get
the faster time just flys by.. *sigh*

On the flip side, though, with most of
my family still in Michigan, we figured
there was really no reason to sit here and
stare at my walls on Christmas, so,
Mr. Ruffles and I are off to Puerto Rico!!

My parents are coming down in January,
and I'll be flying up to see my grandson James,
and my daughter in January, as well..

I can't wait to catch some sun and warmer weather...

~ Feliz Navidad!! ~

I finished up this chair
I found at a local thrift store.

~ Before ~

So excited to show you
what a little white paint
and some gorgeous
Cabbage & Roses
fabric can do!!

~ After ~

I painted it white (of course!)
and shabbied it all up..

Then, overstuffed the seat and
covered it with this gorgeous
Cabbage & Roses fabric.

I only wish I had 5 more
chairs just like it!!

But, I know now what I'll
be recovering my
dining room set with!

Catching up..

Happy Holidays my Friends!
I'm here, I haven't vanished.. well.. not completely..
It's been a rough couple of weeks
here in the RnR house.

The weekend of Renningers I came down
with a nasty case of a chest cold mixed with the flu.
Ugh.. what a weekend to get sick!  I did make it on
Friday for most of the day and thought I was better
when I woke up on Saturday ~ so, I went again for
a couple of hours ~ only to end up getting dizzy and hot.
So.. back to bed for me!  It lasted just over 4 days.. yuck!!

I did pick up a couple awesome peices of ironstone
(my personal favorite)

LOVE this pitcher with the "ice lip"

And, I just ADORE this ironstone set of
Tea/Coffee pot, 2 cups, 2 saucers,
creamer and sugar bowl with lid.
No chips, no cracks..
Just gorgeous!!

I also picked up this frame for only $20!
LOVE

I really wish I would've felt better,
and could've spent more time at
Renningers.. but, at least there
are 2 more big extravaganzas coming up.
There's one in January & another in February.

~

So, on to my next adventure..

Mr. Ruffles suprized me with an
overnight trip to St. Augustine
for Thanksgiving!

Ahhh.. I just love that town!
Mr. Ruffles ain't too shabby either.. LOL

We stayed at the Wescott House
Bed ~n~ Breakfast:

In the Anastasia Room upstairs..

The Innkeeper says it was the Master Bedroom where
Dr. John Westcott,
a well known physician for the militia, stayed.

Gorgeous Chandy in the stairwell.

Inside our room.

Looking downstairs to the front door.

LOVE this vanity..
This was the first picture I took of it.

And, the second..
Look how many orbs came to visit!!

3rd picture, taken right after the 2nd..
They're all gone.. crazy!!

This was my view at the Colombia Restaurant.
We had a yummy Thanksgiving dinner here
with all the fixins..

Afterwards.. Mr. Ruffles suprized me again ~
A carriage ride around the entire town
in the only PINK  carriage!!

Awww.. I just love him!
If ever there was a man that
deserved the title "Keeper"
it's Mr. Ruffles.. FOR SURE!!

I had a wonderful time in
St. Augustine, and can't wait to go back.

~

Now, for the not so nice news.
As we were leaving St. Aug. I got a
phone call from my dad letting me know
my sweet grandmother of 96 years had passed.

I love her sooo much, and it's been a really
difficult week for me.  I am trully blessed
to of been so lucky to have a grandmother
like her for the past 40 years.

I flew up to Michigan for her funeral
last week, only to return and learn
that Mr. Ruffles father has suffered his
3rd stroke.  The blows just keep coming
this season.  We keep our faith, and I
rejoice in the fact that I know my grandmother
is with my grandpa in Heaven with the Lord.

She is happy.

Frenchy Coffee Table

I finally finished a coffee table
that's been sitting in my garage
since last April!  Poor thing has
been used for the last few months
as a stand and "catch all" for my
other painting projects.. I thought
it high time she receives a makeover too!

This is the only before picture I could
find of the coffee table, it was taken in
the back of my truck.. upside down..

I picked her up at Goodwill for a song!

I sanded it down, painted it white,
shabbied her up.. just a bit ~

For me, there was just something missing..
So, I hopped on over to Graphics Fairy
to see what I could find.

I found this wonderful French Typography
saved it to my computer, then enlarged it
by 250%.  It printed out onto 6 sheets of
paper.  I trimmed the paper down, taped it
all together (like a puzzle.. lol).

I put carbon paper underneath my copies,
and drew with pencil on top of my
copied paper so that the design would
"print" off onto my table from the carbon paper.

(I wish I would've taken a picture for ya'll
to see, but, once I get started on something
I get so excited to get going, I forget to
take pictures.. sooo sorry!!)

After tracing over the entire graphic,
I took a Sharpie Paint Pen and filled it in.

This is the end result!

As you can see, I screwed the "B" up
a little bit.. but, overall I think
it turned out great!

What do you think?

I haven't waxed her yet, I'm still
debating whether or not to
shabby over the graphic or not.

~

On another note, how many of you
are headed to Renningers this weekend?
I am sooo excited, I can hardly contain myself!
I am planning on going all 3 days and
I hope I recognize some people from blogland!!
If you recognize me, please say hi, I'd
love to meet you!

Sherri
